Cozy Cat Cafe Puna

About Us

To me, making delicious homemade food from scratch in my home has become one of my love languages.  I have been on a food journey most of my life and it feels like it’s a staple of love and connection to being alive and well.

I was a vendor and caterer in my local community for years at festivals, local farmers markets, and events, but over time, it became a hassle bringing a whole kitchen wherever I went, including covered seating for my guests.  This not ideal situation was where the incentive was born.

It also equally coincided with the fact that my immediate community is a food desert. The closest restaurants are half-hour away.  So why not provide hot food from home?  But how was I going to do this?

I knew about PMAs (Private Membership Associations) but didn’t know how to start one. Eventually I learned there is no jurisdiction for one other than the sovereignty you have to claim to just do it yourself and know the rules.

I learned everything I could and wrote my own Membership/liability agreement that everyone needs to sign to become a member of the club.

It was a satisfying endeavor to really understand private business versus public business. This is a whole enchilada to talk about given the depth and details of this subject.

On another hand I am indeed a cat lover and now have 4 cats.  The first cat I adopted was very overweight at 3 years old.  He was an indoor cat and ate GMO corn food from a food dispenser.

Living with me now, his lifestyle has changed.  The outdoors is now a part of his life and he eats healthy food.  This is my precious Augustus whose picture is on the Cozy Cat Cafe logo.  I created a little living room for him underneath the house with carpet, furniture and his cat tree. This is where Cozy Cat roots began.

The sourdough bread loaf Augustus is hugging is significant.  Learning how to make sourdough bread entered my life and thus, started a staple and phase of life. I offered it to my customers for French toast and people loved my sourdough so much, I later expanded to using it in custom egg dishes and custom sandwiches.

Slowly over one year I was dreaming of having a Cafe where people can relax in a living room setting, look out into my beautiful yard of fruit trees, flowers and plants, and enjoy delicious, healthy food.  This created the inside-outside feel we all love and appreciate in Hawaii.

Cozy Cat Cafe is now in its third season and I am very grateful. My favorite part is the connections that happen here, the musicians that share and entertain, and the genuinely happy smiles and bellies of the people when they leave.

Now it is growing and I’d love to present these pieces of Cozy Cat Cafe to take home with you and be part of you, too. It’s definitely a vibe of connections, cozy meals, and beautiful scenery and people.

I am also pleased to share the net profit proceeds to Volcano Cat Sanctuary for all their endeavors to help give better quality lives to the feral cat problem on this island. They are dear friends of mine, and I’m stoked to be partnering with this worthwhile cause.

Thank you so much for purchasing and being a part of our Cozy Cat Family. From my family to yours, may you always be cozy and connected.
